Or something.

Anyhoo:  The 10 days I had planned on being away turned into 15 due to RAIN, rain and more rain. 

15 days away from home.

15 days without my kids.

15 days of life on the road.

There were highs, and there were lows. There were times I missed my kids so much I would have walked home if I could have. There were other times that because there were no kids hanging onto my body, I suddenly realized I was having clear, deep, uninterrupted thought.

So foreign.

So very, very foreign. I had gotten used to being a bumbling idiot.

Really, to you mothers out there- there REALLY is truth to the idea that being a mom kind of makes you dumber. Temporarily, of course.

How can we even think a complete thought when we are juggling 4,576 things in our minds while tiny bony bodies are compressing your body parts together at the very  same time their tiny loud mouths are simulaneously slobbering and singing right into your ear?

Right?

Before this long, 15 day trip without kids, I was pretty sure I was an imbecile. But no- I have these days of clarity to look back on now. Those days and days of pondering deep thoughts, the meaning of life, reacquainting myself with brain waves.

It was good.... but you know what was better? 

Coming home to my two little beans, who tackled and kissed and hugged (and groped and slobbered) me right to the floor.  Hugging them for 2o minutes, 30 minutes, 40 minutes straight...

Being loved by a kid (even two!) is heaven's best gift.

And I shall NEVER separate myself from my two best gifts for AS LONG AS I LIVE.

Wait, I have to tell you another thing.  I asked my Eve to pick me up from the airport. She surprised me and brought my gals with her. So when I came 'round the bend toward the baggage claim, I suddenly heard screams and loud raucous yellings and looked up to see my gals there, each holding the letters of "welcome back WENDY".... 'cept there was one gal too few to hold the Y of my name, so they recruited who we now so lovingly refer to as: That One Old Guy Who Was Confused.

Eve said to him, "Here she comes, hold this sign!"

And he did.

Very awkwardly.

And we are all still laughing about it.  :)



It's good to be home, people.  It's good to be home.

But, that is not the crux of the matter.  (That's right, crux)  What I really love is life.  Life is beautiful (I am on a roll here).  But, seriously.

Case in point, the Kerwins.  These people are the raddest.  That's right Kerwins, you are the raddest.  Although, I am sure that this causes your New York ears to bleed a little, it is so. 

Last night we had a fantastically fun shoot with them.  Then, we had an equally fun time breaking bread with them.  (So I am in the mood for archaic speech.) 

As we sat round the table, I just couldn't help feeling blessed.  I have the best business partner evar.  Our job is the best evar.  We are in New York city, we are earning a living doing something that we love so much that we often awake in the morning to relay whatever crazy photography dream we had (I took Obama's picture, well I took a picture of Abe Lincoln riding a moose (my dreams are a little weirder than Wendy's.)

But here is the best thing about it.  We have the best client's on earth.  We got home last night grinning from ear to ear.  We had an unbelievably good time with our New York friends.  So,thanks Julie, Paul, Liam and Bram, and thanks to every one of our spectacular clients.  You rock, and you complete us (i am done stealing lines, I swear).

Here's my question.  Rabbits?  Really?

A mouse or a rat scurries across the kitchen floor and chaos ensues.  People are up on chairs screaming. 

But you get a rodent that not only is about ten times bigger than a rat, has huge deformed supersonic ears, but, wait for it, also can jump up high enough to bite your face off (think monty python), and everyone stops screaming, climbs down from their chairs, and starts saying nonsense like:

"ooh you are a cute little bunny rabbit, aren't you, yes you are."

Maybe bigger really is better, I don't know.  But if so, might I introduce the 150 pound Capybara  (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capybara)?  Because that thing is freaking adorable.

Sure, I had warnings that there would be rain. I thought perhaps I'd be bored all day from lack of shooting.

Instead, here's what happened: (see if you can match the pictures below with their description)

Had a downtown Provo shoot early in the a.m. A beautiful high school grad- smart too! Loved the colors she wore mixed with the colors and texture found in the streets.

Went over to West Provo for a shoot with friends and their kids.

Was charged at by mean sheep across the road from said friend's.

I slipped on some mud and went crashing down onto my bum/back. My "friend" grabbed my camera and documented my landing position. Um, thanks so much, Courtney. Lucy  and the children looked on, trying to stifle laughter. Thanks, Lucy! Didn't think it hurt until I stood up again and couldn't bend over. Rest of the day was sort of a joke when it came to moving around. Yet....

I still drove to and fro Salt Lake city/provo in order to avoid cancelling any appts. For about 7 hours.

Ate sushi with cousins. I love cousins.

And I did it. I went through this crazy, rainy day, without missing any appointments, without any client having to go pictureless!

 

VICTORY IS MINE!!!!! (even though I can barely sit or walk.)
