piñatas are falling from the sky

It finally happened.  I am only surprised that it took this long.  My five-year old has outgrown me.
We were watching America's Funniest Home Videos once again.  I have learned a lot from that show.  One thing: piñatas are a bad idea, all of the time.
A dad was holding a piñata that had broken from its string.  (I don't know how to say that any less awkwardly.)
So, he decided to do the only rationale thing.  Not retie the string.  Not open it on the ground.  He thought to himself.  Well, there is a tree right there.  I should break the piñata by chucking it at the tree.  Never mind, that the tree is surrounded by five-year old girls.  What could possibly go wrong?
Of course, he missed the tree.  However, he did succeed in smashing a little girl.  She was knocked over.

I laughed.  (I admit it is in poor taste to laugh at a little girl that has just been attacked by a flying piñata.)
Isaac looked at me and just shook his head in disgust.  Really, Dad?  Really?  This girl's misfortune amuses you?
I am ashamed.

gorgeous... gorgeous photos of that utah family. how can every family you take pictures of be so stylish?! i love it! it give me inspiration to dress my family sharply all the time! ;)

and i cannot help but laugh out loud about your description of the pinata incident. seriously, my husband an i often watch AFV and DIE laughing. we usually always record it and then watch it so we can rewind the funny parts over and over again. just a couple weeks ago there was a segment with talking/singing dogs. i think i bust my gut laughing. we rewound it about 17 times. very, very funny stuff. yet so simple. (yes, we are easy to please)

thanks for the laugh... and for the nice eye candy!

You always have such great portrait sessions to show off. I especially love this one as I was raised in an apple orchard in north central WA. Thanks for sharing.

These are such grea shots. I love your use of depth of field. The colors are amazing as well. What do you shoot with if you don't mind me asking.

Wendy--

I think you've humored me by answering a questions before. I'm here--- here often... don't ever comment but sometimes think I owe it to you with all my lurking. OH-- how I love your photots. la la love. Do you share secrets? How about if we have a sort-of-kind-of mutual friend out of Julie Hersh? She moved out here to the desert from Temecula. I am a learning-and-growing new (dare I say) photographer... and sometimes I just wish I could interview and pick the brain of a killer photographer. Let me know if you'd ever charge for a half-hour phone call or something. For real.

AND--- where are these trees? Same spot you took the Neilsen's right? I've always assumed it was Utah but just confirming.... it's not Temecula is it?
