Blue Skies

Yesterday I had a moment of pure sadness. Well- I should say that it was definitely a first world kind of sadness- I broke my toe simply by kicking a door frame! It hurt a lot off course but I didn't cry. However, I almost cried like a baby when I realized I probably can't snowboard for a couple of weeks. Noooooo!

And, as if nature was pouring salt into my wound, overnight my favorite ski resort got 15" of fresh powder. Torture! So now I'm laying on my bed this beautiful Monday morning wondering if I can get my snowboard boot on and tough it out. I think I'll try :)

But friends, even if it does work out and I'm forced to take a couple of weeks off (my life is hard, haha!), its hard to be sad on a gorgeous, sunny blue sky day. My lawn is covered in white fluffy stuff and my dog and I can always stare out the window and enjoy the view!

Video below is a short version- shot in Calgary!

The more you know

After experiences had in the last 20 minutes, I'm pretty sure it's possible for me to shave my legs and grow an entire forest of leg hair back in 19 minutes, if the conditions are right.

In case you want to experiment, the right conditions are: hot steamy shower, exit the shower into freezing, negative 20 degree bedroom, inability to put one's pants on fast enough.

Before we got our dog, North, I was not at all a dog person. I didn't and couldn't understand why people would basically act as slaves to dogs, picking up their poops and following them around on leashes, and spending lots of money on expensive vet bills, etc. I was basically a dog scrooge.

In 2013 the rest of my family members got this evil idea in their heads that we should get a dog. I was pretty vocal with my "NO, NEVER" response. I mean, we lived on the road, for crying out loud! Where would we put it? What would we do when it ate the car interior? (This was definitely going to happen, in my brain.)

Well- a month later we had a puppy. North! He sure was cute, but he was a lot of work. A LOT. Sometimes I would fantasize about a life without him, even though I was kind of addicted to his cuteness. Sometimes I would fantasize about dropping him off at a farm and driving away (these are true confessions, people, and I'm not proud of it!).

But then... it happened! I fell absolutely in love with him. He was so charming, and learned how to obey, and not eat things like my only pair of shoes, etc. He became my little sidekick, and we went on walks three times a day together, to escape the crowded RV we were living in. Loving North quickly rocketed into a love for ALL dogs. This shocked me, but I couldn't help it. My heart grew 30 sizes. My new favorite social activities were to go to the dog park and meet other dog lovers, or talk to other dog walkers I ran into.

Now, I am a full-fledged dog lover and I want ALL the dogs. Can I please have all the dogs?

How to Birthday properly

Well, today is my 38th birthday, and I have had a terrific, wonderful day so far!

I have been in some amazing, faraway places to celebrate past birthdays. Today though, I've been at home in SLC, hitting the slopes with friends and family and enjoying my children. I have had the most amazing birthday in this amazing state of Utah, with such wonderful people. I am truly grateful for all I've got in life. Thank you for being a part of it!

I am a huge fan of my birthday and I always like to gather people up and have fun. I'm not one to wait for somebody to plan it for me, because that's not going to happen, haha! I suggest this method to anyone who doesn't like their birthday. Take charge and make the fun happen, and you can't be disappointed.

And today, I surely wasn't disappointed as I sailed through feet of powder, whooping and hollering all the way.

Happy February 28th everyone!
